BOSTON IN ONE WEEKEND
We have become BIG fans of quick, weekend trips! Finding the top places to eat, seeing the biggest sites, and finding time to relax have been a fun little challenge for us – plus we don’t have to take time off work. Most recently, we did Boston in one weekend! Here’s what we did and some things we would have liked to do if we had more time:
ACCOMMODATIONS
Finding a place to stay that is conveniently located is the most important thing with such a short stay! We stayed at the Boston Harbor Hotel which was right on the Boston Harbor. Some rooms have harbor views, and while we had city views, it was still just as beautiful with the Boston skyline. There are plenty of Adirondack chairs alongside the water to sit, relax, and watch the boats come in. We ended up spending quite a bit of time here! The hotel staff is very friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful.
RESTAURANTS
Being in Boston, I knew I had to find a lobster roll and lobster mac and cheese – thankfully we found both super easily! If you like seafood, you’re definitely in the right place.
James Hook & Co : less than a 5 minute walk from our hotel. Known for their fresh lobsters, and lobster rolls. We both got hot lobster rolls with butter and it was worth every penny! SO much meat!
Bostonia Public House: we found reservations here super easily! We split the calamari and lobster mac & cheese because both had such large portions – super yummy.
Places I have been before on previous trips or came highly recommended:
Legal Seafoods: they have a couple of locations! Their fresh seafood is amazing, and I definitely recommend getting reservations in advance.

THINGS TO DO
- Walk around the Harbor! They have an easy walking path around the water’s edge. So fun to watch the sailboats in the water and see the yachts docked.
- Take a visit to Beacon Hill – the houses are picture perfect and provide lots of cute photo opportunities! Be sure to stop by the “Most Instagrammable Street in America” on Acorn Street and Louisburg Square.
- The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile walk through Boston that takes you to historic places that were monumental in America’s early days. We walked half one day and the other half the next. A lot of the places you can visit inside but do have a small fee. The trail itself is free, but you can also book tours that will have a guide walk with you.
- Visit Fenway Park! We didn’t get to this trip, but would love to include it the next time we visit.
- Sam Adams’ Brewery tour – would love to do this the next time we visit when I’m not expecting!
- See the architecture at the Boston Public Library!
Overall, we LOVED our trip to Boston! It is an incredibly walk-able city with such a rich history. While we could have spent a ton of time there, Boston in one weekend is totally doable!
